Sheng It Up (SIU) is formed by Ng Cheung-yin, who plays a traditional Chinese wind instrument, sheng 笙 (a mouth organ). Along with So Hon-tou, another Chinese instrument, pipa 琵琶 (a 4-string long-necked lute), produces the distinctive colour this band possesses. The foundations of harmony comes from a strong support from the keyboard played by Ng King-pan, while the rhythm section is played by Sai-wai on electric bass and veteran drummer Simon Chui. The score of this piece is only a sketch of melodies and chords, while the players improvises along with the leadsheet. It was premiered at the Fringe Club in 2003 and later recorded in 2005.
