July 3rd, 2004 她比煙花更寂寞

令我哭的電影。當一個職業演奏家,不斷忙碌緊密地演出,無法過一個普通人的生活,是違反人性的。兩姊妹既相愛亦相妒,其中之苦,實令人痛心。
有幾句對白真的難以忘懷,大概如下:
Hilary: “I know nothing besides flute, you know nothing besides cello, we are babies. If you think being an ordinary is easier than an extraordinary, then you are wrong.”
Hilary: “When we think of a person, we will first think of a picture. When I think of you, it is not you playing the cello, but long before you learn the cello, when we were children, we were playing on the beach, and you told me: everything will turn out fine at the end, and indeed it is.”
有人責難電影侵犯 Jacqueline du Pre 的私隱,而且故事不符真實,生安白做,會給人錯誤印象以為Jacqueline du Pre 真是如此。誠然有理,但片中並無私毫破壞到Jacqueline的形象,反而令人深深震動,悲人世之苦。
真想聽Jacqueline 拉 Elgar Cello Concerto, 可惜Pro sounds 冇貨。
